Local addresses in Saudi Arabia are written in Arabic script. For an inbound parcel, write the address in the Latin alphabet; adding the local version underneath helps the courier on the last leg.

Local conventions worth getting right in Saudi Arabia

A Saudi national address has six parts: a four digit building number, the street, the district, the city, a five digit postal code, and a four digit additional number written after a hyphen, as in Riyadh 11564-3456. The additional number pinpoints the building inside the postal zone, so include it whenever the recipient has given it to you. The district does as much routing work here as the street.

If nobody is home when the parcel reaches Saudi Arabia

SPL sets the collection window by service class, and the two are far apart: an express shipment waits ten days at the recipient’s branch, while an economy one waits thirty. In both cases an uncollected item then goes back to the sender’s branch and is held there for the same period again, so a parcel can be recoverable for well over a month rather than being lost the moment the first window closes. Saudi addresses are building number, street, district, city and a five digit code, and the district is what a driver actually navigates by.

The last line is the destination country in English capitals, so the exporting post office can sort the item without reading the local script.

Saudi Arabia uses postal codes. A valid one looks like 12211, the code for Riyadh.

The national postal operator is Saudi Post | SPL.

No state or province is used in a Saudi Arabia address. The city line and postal code are enough.

Customs status

Saudi Arabia is outside the EU customs union, so every inbound parcel needs a customs declaration: a CN22 on the label itself below roughly 300 SDR, a CN23 on a separate sheet above it.

Sending to Saudi Arabia from abroad

Once the parcel crosses a border, the last address line must read SAUDI ARABIA in Latin capitals and a customs declaration is required, unless the route stays inside the EU customs union.

Sending inside Saudi Arabia

For a domestic parcel, drop the country line and the customs block. Everything else on the label stays the same.

Straight answers · Saudi Arabia

What this does, and what it does not

Is this an official postal label for Saudi Arabia?

No, and no website can produce one. A carrier label carries a tracking number only Saudi Post | SPL or a courier can issue against your account. This is an address and handling label: print it, tape it to the box, and add the carrier’s tracking label beside it at drop-off.

Does a parcel sent to Saudi Arabia need a customs form?

Only if the parcel starts in a different country. Domestic shipments inside Saudi Arabia need no customs paperwork. For inbound international parcels, a CN22 is required below roughly 300 SDR and is added to the label automatically; heavier or more valuable consignments need a CN23 on a separate sheet.

Can I write the address in Arabic script?

Local addresses in Saudi Arabia are written in Arabic script. For an inbound parcel, write the address in the Latin alphabet; adding the local version underneath helps the courier on the last leg.
